the allegory of the cave platos republic

A great and spirited film and story. This is the type of spirit and courage which us peoples in the west hold dear and hope (even pray) to manifest during times of challenge and difficulty. The battle of the Le Mans 66 race provides the perfect 'vehicle' to tell a story of great courage and risk taking place in the midst of incredible racing cars which the drivers push to their mechanical limits. Danger and determination are ever present in the fight to triumph, and the story all takes place in the context of a further battle between the Ford Motor Company and Ferrari.

Le Mans 66 expresses so much that is great about our western civilization and society, and will for sure, elicit these sort of feelings and emotions in those from all sections and classes of society. The film evokes a sense of pride - against which the present timidity and fear of mass society (and the degree to which it is permitting itself to be manipulated) seems utterly pathetic and cowardly.

The reality evermore coming into view appears to be that if we want to keep hold of what is undoubtedly important and precious to us -- if we want to be able to enjoy to a society worthy of even being called 'normal' (never mind something better) then individuals on mass need to very quickly start getting in contact with the sort of archetypal experiences which the film Le Mans 66 unquestionably facilitates. To risk all in pursuit of genius, excellence and victory...

Brilliantly played and acted by Matt Damon, Christian Bale, Caitriona Balfe and Tracy Letts, to name just some of the superb performances, Le Mans 66 is a thrilling and inspiring treat of a movie. Is a total must see movie.
