the allegory of the cave platos republic

A truly sublime orchestral composition from the movie Platoon. The piece seems fitting for the present moment as it expresses musically (imo), the meaning of consequences - potentially including profound loss, regret, sorrow and crushing irreversible failure amongst many other possibilities. I wonder if this is the sort of musical backdrop (soundscape) missing from our lives at the present moment in time on this earth. I mean that maybe hearing this sort of profundity, might give rise to individuals questioning whether we as a world's people are likewise sleepwalking towards a similar fate and destruction, as the disaster that was the Vietnam war. The piece is titled: Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings, Op. 11.

To even contemplate that across the world, a gathering and playing of an orchestra such as this is for the most part (officially) outlawed - due to the 'alleged' safety risks it would present, (because of supposed CV19). At the minimum, each member of the orchestra would be expected to be socially distanced (even in a tent bubble!!!), though apparently wind instruments pose a particular risk!

It is imo, utter madness and insanity - exactly the sort of states of mind which lead to what this incredible piece of music expresses... Truly may the highest powers of creation show compassion and mercy on us peoples as we march along in step onward into such madness - and with hardly a whimper or protest or 'peep' to be heard...
